Christmas Carol 5K {PR!}

I usually don’t talk about time goals on the internet. I never talk smack about my time goals on the internet. Except this one time. I got a little cocky on Twitter and Facebook about my plans for the Christmas Carol 5K that went down Saturday morning. I will never do this again. Some call the little voice in the back of your head saying “how will I spin an excuse for not being fast enough” motivation. Not me. I hated that voice. It did not make me want to run faster. It made me want to punch geese. Not that punching geese would have been the worst thing ever, there were oodles of geese milling around City Park! Once again I committed to this race at the last minute – last Tuesday night. I figure if I don’t have … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Home Sweet Home 10K {PR}

I can spend hours professing my love for trails but that doesn’t mean I’ve entirely given up on road races. Especially the shorter road races. There is a certain level of accomplishment in getting out on the pavement, pushing the pace and managing misery that I am yet to find on the trails. Last Saturday I ran the Home Sweet Home 10K on a bit of a whim. I have a really hard time turning down a bib when it’s handed to me and the Boulder Running Company had one just waiting for a runner to pin it on! A few days prior to the race I ran two miles with Chris at an 8:06 pace. It wasn’t excessively hard but it required enough effort to get me worried about pulling off a PR on the 10K. I’d need to … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Life Lately: Zevia, Halloween, BRC

First, Happy November! My birthday month is over…which means it is Chris’s birthday month. I’m okay with that because my birthday month has one more day than his. I’m a one-upper like that. One thing I will never get tired of in Colorado is how amazing the weather is about 98% of the time. It is November and I am running outside in shorts/tanks while driving an hour into the mountains go to snowboarding. Perfect. So incredibly perfect. Also, I’m pretty sure Colorado won the fall color contest this year. Even if it is mostly yellow the colors I’m still seeing here are seriously trumping the little I saw in Wisconsin! And clearly I’m obsessed with the colors! Zevia Smarter Celebrations In non-mountain/color/crazy news I had an opportunity learned how to make some tasty appetizers I would have never even … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Heart & Sole 10K {Surprise PR}

I walked away from the Heart & Sole 10K last Sunday morning thinking one thing…holy crap, my legs are loving life! Oh, and “drink more water, you idiot”. Short Story This was definitely not my favorite course but the sunrise was gorgeous and the field of runner’s was seriously competitive so the energy of the morning was refreshing. I started out faster than I should have, settled in with another woman for the last 5K and pulled off a PR…and broke 51 minutes with a 50:57 finish! All of this awesome happened the day after I ran up a mountain. I think its safe to say my legs like trails! Long Story This was a last minute race that I did not plan for in any way. I had completely forgotten about its existence until another BRC racer mentioned it … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Running Lately

There has been a fair amount of running in my life lately. The fun kind where you just go out and enjoy life in your running shoes. Without even trying too hard there has been a solid mix of trails, hills, speed work, distance and racing. Without going into too much boring detail here is a quick recap of the runs that have gone down in the past week or so… Boulder Running Company Speed Work Hill Repeats with Boulder Running Company’s Wednesday Night Group Run Almost every week I manage to show up at the Boulder Running Company for a special form of torture – group speed work. It’s a workout I love to hate. It usually hurts quite a bit while I’m fighting through the workouts but the results have been very obvious in my races this year … [Click Here For the Full Story]
