Oddly Guilty…

I am feeling oddly guilty today. It really is rather ridiculous and I’m fully aware of the sheer lunacy of this guilt but that doesn’t make it vanish. Nope. Not even a little bit. Not even multiple trips up/down the stairs to my 12th floor office just to stay warm is making this guilt go away. What have I done to bring on this guilt? I didn’t run. On a rare day in Colorado when the high didn’t make it out of the single digit temperatures I chose to stay burrowed under the blankets with the body heat of two toasty cats and a hot husband. They were all radiating heat and sleeping so peacefully. I didn’t want to wake them up. Besides, I was tired and none of my usually AM running buddies were meeting me. No motivation, no … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Life Lately: Zevia, Halloween, BRC

First, Happy November! My birthday month is over…which means it is Chris’s birthday month. I’m okay with that because my birthday month has one more day than his. I’m a one-upper like that. One thing I will never get tired of in Colorado is how amazing the weather is about 98% of the time. It is November and I am running outside in shorts/tanks while driving an hour into the mountains go to snowboarding. Perfect. So incredibly perfect. Also, I’m pretty sure Colorado won the fall color contest this year. Even if it is mostly yellow the colors I’m still seeing here are seriously trumping the little I saw in Wisconsin! And clearly I’m obsessed with the colors! Zevia Smarter Celebrations In non-mountain/color/crazy news I had an opportunity learned how to make some tasty appetizers I would have never even … [Click Here For the Full Story]

#TryingStuff with #OmniTen

Guys…I’m feeling kind of awesome. In my head I’ve always been awesome, the bombdiggity and the best thing that ever happened to the world. I mean, it is my own head, I can think things like that! However, in reality I know that I am just another person running around on trails, playing in the snow and writing about my life for internet strangers to read. But then a package arrived at my door…a big, fancy package from Columbia Sportswear. It was crammed full of winter gear and an invite to be part of the #OmniTen winter team. Heck yes, I jabber about outdoorsy winter fun online just enough to get selected as one of this season’s #OmniTen’ers which is a huge ego stroke. So pumped for this winter! I could not accept the invite fast enough. Yes, please! Molly … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Birthday Trail Run

Last week I convinced Paula that a 27 mile birthday run on the Colorado Trail was a good idea! I’m pretty sure she occasionally regretted her decision to join me but the trails were gorgeous, the weather was perfect and we got more downhill than uphill! She even told me a time or two that she didn’t hate me! I’m taking that as a sign of a successful trail run! We met up well before the sun crept over the horizon, left a car at the base of Waterton Canyon then headed up to Buffalo Creek. Chris was kind enough to be our chauffeur and dropped us off at the Little Shaggy/FS 550 Trailhead at 7:15am. We were both fighting annoying, snot-filled head colds so we were all kinds of excited when Chris offered to meet us at the middle … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Earning Legit Ultra Cred

It has been almost two weeks since I ran my first ultra race – the Bear Chase 50K. When I wrote the race recap I had a million things to say about the race and my overall experience – as is evident by the 3,000 word recap! I cut out a lot of little details with plans to do a follow up post, but now, weeks later, I don’t have the words for the feelings. But I do have lots of race day photos to share – thanks to Running Guru – and a few plans for my running future… Around Mile 5 I do know one thing, I don’t feel like an ultra runner. I know that is silly. I ran an ultra, I am an ultra runner. For the first time ever I understand where people are coming … [Click Here For the Full Story]
