Please Name Me…

Everyone is having babies… {seriously, check your FB feed, I’m pretty sure everyone is having babies} And we were feeling a little left out. So we got another cat. It seemed logical. Sort of. It all started when Chris came to Dumb Friends League with me to run the dogs. While I was getting the dogs all set to go he wandered through the cat kennels and decided we needed to bring one home. After two weeks of stalking the continued availability of one particular cat we finally talked ourselves into bringing her home! On Monday morning, after our bout of trail running and mountain biking, we took our sweaty, stinky selves to the Dumb Friends League to bring a friend home for Fred. The cat we had been eyeballing was a playful black female that was brought in as … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Fun on a 14er…

When you have amazing weather you can’t just hike up a 14er and call it a day. You have to have a little fun with it. As we were playing around with photos Chris decided I should jump off the mountain…or at least make it look that way. So I did… …or I tried. Turns out fake jumping off a mountain isn’t the easiest thing ever. Especially when the snow gets squishy close to the edge and there really is a drop off! So I went for running instead… It was actually a lot of fun being crazy up on the top of a 14er. There was only one other group up there for the majority of the time and the summit was eerily still. This was our 4th summit and the first one we didn’t feel like we were … [Click Here For the Full Story]

It’s a long weekend…

It seems about right that I would go to a blogger retreat, write two posts than forget I even have a blog. I make sense like that. Life has been busy…but not exactly exciting. Well, kind of exciting, just not blog-worthy, photo-filled exciting. I got home from BLEND on Sunday, picked Chris’s brother, Ethan, up from the airport on Monday, escaped to the mountains on Tuesday, waved good-bye to Ethan and caught up on work stuff Wednesday, spent at least 10 hours working at Panera on Thursday, paid a little attention to the house and packing on Friday and played more work catch up today. And now it’s officially the weekend – a long weekend! I am caught up with my random work just enough to justify leaving it all behind once again…this time for some quiet time in the … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Your Card Is In the Mail…

Hey Mom…your card is in the mail! Okay, fine. Its on the kitchen counter. But it is filled out and sealed! I want credit for that. Forget the fact its not stamped or sealed. Oops. It’s the thought that counts and I’m telling you that I thought about it.  …yes, she is in the back of a station wagon – she had to hold the tiller in……and that is my mom showing off some injera, in a public restaurant at a full table……and to think I still readily claim her as mine… Last year I wrote a post about how I am becoming my mother. That hasn’t changed…she is something special and unfortunately for Chris I am slowly becoming more and more like her! Maybe that’s enough of a Mother’s Day present to her? Or can we count the fact … [Click Here For the Full Story]

The Hut Experience {McNamara Hut}

Its been three weeks…but I have a few more things to share about our hut trip. Mostly a rather entertaining video of me freaking out about birds, but also some general impressions from our trip. I am no expert, by any means, but I do want to share a bit about what we learned on the trip…stuff I wish I had been able to read about before we headed out on our first hut trip. Heads Up: If you really just want to see my squeak around birds skip to the bottom! When we were first asked if we were interested in the hut trip I was saying yes before I even knew the dates. I was excited…this was going to be awesome! I read about Heather’s trip last year and looked at every photo with a twinge of jealousy … [Click Here For the Full Story]
