Christmas Carol 5K {PR!}

I usually don’t talk about time goals on the internet. I never talk smack about my time goals on the internet. Except this one time. I got a little cocky on Twitter and Facebook about my plans for the Christmas Carol 5K that went down Saturday morning. I will never do this again. Some call the little voice in the back of your head saying “how will I spin an excuse for not being fast enough” motivation. Not me. I hated that voice. It did not make me want to run faster. It made me want to punch geese. Not that punching geese would have been the worst thing ever, there were oodles of geese milling around City Park! Once again I committed to this race at the last minute – last Tuesday night. I figure if I don’t have … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Santa Stampede 5K

I had plans to share lots of snowy Steamboat photos today but there is a minor I’m-too-lazy-to-deal-with-it technical difficulty that has the photos held hostage on my phone so you’ll have to wait for that. So while I think about emptying out my overflowing Dropbox here is a quick, recap-like post about the Santa Stampede 5K last weekend! As usual I jumped all over the chance to snag the 5K bib when it was offered up by Boulder Running Company. I have a problem. I just say yes to every race offered up. I can’t help it… I gave little thought to my Friday night plans when I decided to race but I was lucky enough to remember the company party before stupidly signing up for the 5K and 10K combo. I settled for just the 5K and still regretted … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Pumpkin Pie 5K & 10K {hydrate…!}

I think I have gotten a little cocky with my racing. At least with what I expect from my body. My legs have been throwing down respectable distances one weekend then whipping out PR’s the next. I was getting a little too used to this and failed to give my body enough love…especially in the form of water. Going into last weekend’s races I wasn’t nervous. I knew I could cover the distance and a legit 5K PR was attainable. I was feeling a little cocky – racing has been good to me lately. The races were solid efforts that I’m proud of, my post-race Saturday was more miserable than it needed to be! Probably had something to do with running both the 5K and 10K while dehydrated… Race day started out normal and boring with a drive to City … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Home Sweet Home 10K {PR}

I can spend hours professing my love for trails but that doesn’t mean I’ve entirely given up on road races. Especially the shorter road races. There is a certain level of accomplishment in getting out on the pavement, pushing the pace and managing misery that I am yet to find on the trails. Last Saturday I ran the Home Sweet Home 10K on a bit of a whim. I have a really hard time turning down a bib when it’s handed to me and the Boulder Running Company had one just waiting for a runner to pin it on! A few days prior to the race I ran two miles with Chris at an 8:06 pace. It wasn’t excessively hard but it required enough effort to get me worried about pulling off a PR on the 10K. I’d need to … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Building Your Own Training Plan

In case you missed it…CHRIS IS RUNNING! Yea, that is a big deal. A huge deal. It makes me all kind of happy…I have a running buddy, a run-nerd (for real, he running and he’s a nerd!) and we have more running shoes in the house! Of course, this means I lost my freebie race photographer, but I’ll give that up for someone to run and race with! This is all sorts of exciting but it requires a little adjusting. I have to get used to running with someone who doesn’t want to talk about girly things. I have been over explaining the basic run chatter…for now. And I am back to researching training plans. Yup, training plans. After over a year of telling training plans to suck it I am once again befriending excel and numbers! I guess the … [Click Here For the Full Story]
