Pumpkin Pie 5K & 10K {hydrate…!}

I think I have gotten a little cocky with my racing. At least with what I expect from my body. My legs have been throwing down respectable distances one weekend then whipping out PR’s the next. I was getting a little too used to this and failed to give my body enough love…especially in the form of water. Going into last weekend’s races I wasn’t nervous. I knew I could cover the distance and a legit 5K PR was attainable. I was feeling a little cocky – racing has been good to me lately. The races were solid efforts that I’m proud of, my post-race Saturday was more miserable than it needed to be! Probably had something to do with running both the 5K and 10K while dehydrated… Race day started out normal and boring with a drive to City … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Home Sweet Home 10K {PR}

I can spend hours professing my love for trails but that doesn’t mean I’ve entirely given up on road races. Especially the shorter road races. There is a certain level of accomplishment in getting out on the pavement, pushing the pace and managing misery that I am yet to find on the trails. Last Saturday I ran the Home Sweet Home 10K on a bit of a whim. I have a really hard time turning down a bib when it’s handed to me and the Boulder Running Company had one just waiting for a runner to pin it on! A few days prior to the race I ran two miles with Chris at an 8:06 pace. It wasn’t excessively hard but it required enough effort to get me worried about pulling off a PR on the 10K. I’d need to … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Building Your Own Training Plan

In case you missed it…CHRIS IS RUNNING! Yea, that is a big deal. A huge deal. It makes me all kind of happy…I have a running buddy, a run-nerd (for real, he running and he’s a nerd!) and we have more running shoes in the house! Of course, this means I lost my freebie race photographer, but I’ll give that up for someone to run and race with! This is all sorts of exciting but it requires a little adjusting. I have to get used to running with someone who doesn’t want to talk about girly things. I have been over explaining the basic run chatter…for now. And I am back to researching training plans. Yup, training plans. After over a year of telling training plans to suck it I am once again befriending excel and numbers! I guess the … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Life Lately: Zevia, Halloween, BRC

First, Happy November! My birthday month is over…which means it is Chris’s birthday month. I’m okay with that because my birthday month has one more day than his. I’m a one-upper like that. One thing I will never get tired of in Colorado is how amazing the weather is about 98% of the time. It is November and I am running outside in shorts/tanks while driving an hour into the mountains go to snowboarding. Perfect. So incredibly perfect. Also, I’m pretty sure Colorado won the fall color contest this year. Even if it is mostly yellow the colors I’m still seeing here are seriously trumping the little I saw in Wisconsin! And clearly I’m obsessed with the colors! Zevia Smarter Celebrations In non-mountain/color/crazy news I had an opportunity learned how to make some tasty appetizers I would have never even … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Bear Creek 10 Spot…turned 15K! {PR + Chris’s Recap}

It only took one race to get Chris hooked on running…after the Xterra 5K he was on the hunt for another trail race. Enter the Bear Creek 10 Spot…turned 15K thanks to the residual effects of all the flooding in September. Once again Race Directors had to do a lot of last minute re-routing and once again they pulled it off! These trail RDs rock at life! Start of the Bear Creek 10 Spot, it was a small race…but I’m still proud of my AG finish! We arrived at the park just before 9am, hiked up the hill to the start area, grabbed our bibs and were ready to go. The race started a bit late due to the fact the new last minute course required us to wait for the 5K’ers to get past a certain point. I spent … [Click Here For the Full Story]
