Oddly Guilty…

I am feeling oddly guilty today. It really is rather ridiculous and I’m fully aware of the sheer lunacy of this guilt but that doesn’t make it vanish. Nope. Not even a little bit. Not even multiple trips up/down the stairs to my 12th floor office just to stay warm is making this guilt go away. What have I done to bring on this guilt? I didn’t run. On a rare day in Colorado when the high didn’t make it out of the single digit temperatures I chose to stay burrowed under the blankets with the body heat of two toasty cats and a hot husband. They were all radiating heat and sleeping so peacefully. I didn’t want to wake them up. Besides, I was tired and none of my usually AM running buddies were meeting me. No motivation, no … [Click Here For the Full Story]

The Dog Days Of Summer…?

It’s not quite summer and Fred is not a dog. However, it sure felt like summer today and Fred was acting an awful lot like a dog! I spent a few hours of my afternoon sitting at my computer desk pecking away at the keyboard. After about 20 minutes of prancing around my desk, laying on my arms and literally nosing the thumb pad on my laptop {while I was trying to use the actual mouse…} he decided to lay by my feet. Like a dog. He gave me the stink eye every time I moved my chair! He is such a weirdo. Over the few hours of “cat napping” he took on the poses of “The Sphinx”, “The Exhibitionist”, “Thumper The Rabbit” and “Dead Cat”. His foot was comically twitching in his “Thumper” pose – I think he was … [Click Here For the Full Story]

24 hours later…

A lot can change in a few hours – especially if it involves the weather of Colorado! Last week we went from 60 degrees at 10am to snow at 6pm. Seriously, run group people were talking about running in shorts that morning while wearing three layers for the PM group run. Colorado cannot make up its mind! Last night very few of us showed up for the Wednesday night group run. By very few I mean two. Probably because it was a snowy mess outside… …7pm Wednesday Night……also exactly what it looked like at 6am Thursday Morning… We ended up with about 6 inches of snow on the ground and cars – the roads were just a wet mess. But this is Colorado so this morning it didn’t feel weird to pack shorts for this evening’s run. Shorts were a … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Making Lists…of Travel Wishes

Its been a long day. Our alarm went off at 4am this morning and started out very rainy first leg of the trip back to Denver. When we woke up it was dry outside, when we left 30 minutes later it was pouring. I do miss a good rain! The sound, the smell, the feel… Not to be out done Denver felt compelled to welcome us back with our favorite thing ever…snow! Gee, thanks Denver! Ever hear the saying “April showers bring May flowers”? It doesn’t say anything about snow! The snow was actually extremely beautiful today and our flight was on time so its all good. Speaking of flights. On the plane I do one of three things – sleep, read, write. Today I wrote. Nothing even remotely exciting to most – I made lists. Lots of lists! I … [Click Here For the Full Story]

I miss fall…

I think I missed out on fall. Where did fall go? Where were all the bright orange, deep red and strikingly yellow trees? What happened to the rustling leaves, the yards heaped with racked leaves and the smell of burning leaves? Turns out none of that really happens here in Colorado. I didn’t miss out on fall…I am just missing my Wisconsin version of fall! We do get color here in Colorado, but it is mostly yellow from the aspens. I am yet to see a yard with leaves heaped into a pile – they are almost immediately bagged up to avoid the gusting winds. And burning leaves?! Maybe its because I’m in town but I’m pretty sure that is avoided because, quite frankly, our state needs no help catching its forests on fire! In my little midwestern head this … [Click Here For the Full Story]
