Thinking Warm Thoughts

Its cold in Denver. As in we’ve had a few days where the temps have barely crawled above the single digits. It has become painfully obvious I have lost all of my hardcore Wisconsin tolerance to the cold. Rather than go boarding this weekend – where the temps were at –16ish with wind chill – we decided to be bums and hang out at home. Therefore I have no fun photos from the mountains. …who am I kidding, I always have mountain photos… But don’t fret, I have plenty of photos from our little excursion to take in the warmer weather while it lasted! Let’s all look at the photos of warmer weather, think warm thoughts and snuggle under a fuzzy blanket in front of a fireplace while drinking hot caramel cider… …looking out over Bear Creek Lake Park… We … [Click Here For the Full Story]

A Half Marathon…

…that completely sucked! I know you are dying to know why, so here goes! 1. It wasn’t actually a race – just a long run – so no tshirts, no medal and no spectators! 2. The weather was less than stellar…33 degrees my rear! It was in the mid-20’s (not exactly horrible…) and cloudy. All I wanted was a little cheerful sunshine! 3. The paved trails were, well, covered in 2+ inches of snow. NOT conducive for running at any speed. I actually stopped my Garmin and walked about .2 miles across a bridge that was 1” snow and 2” slush (from the snow plows spraying salty slush on top of the snow). It was almost impossible to walk it, I wasn’t running it! 4. I fell down in the first 65 feet (thanks Garmin for that fact) because my … [Click Here For the Full Story]

Improv Exercises…

I spent my entire morning slacking off but I did manage to motivate myself just enough to get some improv exercise in…   I scrubbed orange looking cat barf out of our relatively white carpet. No, I do not know why Fred barfed on the floor…but I think it might have something to do with the crazy workout he put himself through at 6am! He was running around the house and up/down the stairs like a possessed monkey!   During my lunch I headed outside for a speedy fast 2.5 mile run – 22:20 minutes, 8:50 avg pace. The weather is great considering we got dumped on with snow on Sunday/Monday. I figured it was cool enough out that I could head outside for a run and not get sweaty/gross – I was only slightly wrong. Whoops, at least no … [Click Here For the Full Story]

I had to go to work…bummer!

During our blizzard conditions yesterday I was secretly hoping that it would continue to blizzard all night long. I was really hoping that we would wake up to about 20 inches of snow. That way I wouldn’t be able to get out of my driveway and I wouldn’t have to go to work. Okay, I wasn’t very secretive about my hoping – I was pretty verbal. Maybe that is why it didn’t pan out for me. I got up with Chris this morning at 6:30am and there was snow…but not enough to excuse a day at home – only 9.5” according to the news. Bummer. Being a responsible adult has its down falls… However, there was enough snow for me to skip my morning run…there was no way I was going to run outside and it just wasn’t safe enough … [Click Here For the Full Story]

My WeekEND in Photos: Turn your headlights on…NOW!

Here in Wisconsin we have been getting another dumping of snow. We missed out on the two feet in January (too far north) so apparently everyone has forgotten the proper etiquette of driving in a snowstorm. Especially the TURN YOUR LIGHTS ON IN A BLIZZARD one! Stupid Wisconsinites! The cars in these photos have their lights on…but a great many people didn’t. It was pretty shocking with just how dumb people were. And YES, I did flash my lights at every.single.one of them! Now, I’m not risking it…my light JUST turned green as I was snapping this photo. Notice how safe I was driving…a full car length between me and the burnbanator! I risked it and decided to drive to the UW for a few laps around the track in the purdy new shoes. I figured with being a Sunday … [Click Here For the Full Story]
